Whether reflective through personal or professional
approaches, these attributes are exemplary. PHSC’s District
Board of Trustees Chairman, Rao Musunuru, M.D., is
determined to honor several individuals who have contributed
admirable service to the College while providing scholarship
opportunities to deserving students. Musunuru recently
presented a $10,000 scholarship in honor of Donald Vierling,
M.D. at the spring commencement ceremony. Vierling, a
community leader and local family physician, has been a
prominent member of the PHSC Foundation Board of Directors
for over 30 years. During his Foundation tenure, Vierling has
served on numerous committees and was appointed board

PHSC Perspective
At the winter commencement in December 2016, Dr. Musunuru
established the Inaugural Special Recognition Scholarship,
which he presented to the PHSC Foundation in honor of
PHSC Vice President of Administration and Finance Kenneth
Burdzinski. “There are many unsung heroes at PHSC who
work with great dedication behind the scenes,” said Musunuru.
“Throughout his 20-year tenure at the college, Ken has
managed a budget that rose from $15.6 million to nearly $53
million and oversaw the building of the Spring Hill Campus
and Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch. He is a hardworking
individual that insured the College’s long-term financial stability
and very deserving of a special recognition and appreciation.”
The $10,000 donation will be added to the endowed
Burdzinski/Epperson Family Scholarship to benefit PHSC
students in need of financial assistance.
