DONOR NOTES
The Rotary Club of Spring Hill recently established the Jim Smith Scholarship, an endowed fund established in memory of the longtime Rotarian and community leader. Jim dedicated his life to service— first in the military, then in a successful career in banking and finance. A
Jim Smith man of faith, family and fierce loyalty to the Green Bay Packers, he exemplified Rotary’ s motto:“ Service Above Self.” This scholarship will support students, with a preference given to Hernando County residents and those pursuing careers in finance, carrying Jim’ s legacy forward for years to come.
The Florida College System Foundation continued providing financial resources to students through the Helios Education Foundation First Generation in College Scholars Program, the Bank of America Dream Makers Scholars Program and the Florida Blue Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship. Cumulatively, their gift will provide nearly $ 35,000 in scholarships during the 2025- 2026 academic year.
CareerSource Pasco Hernando continued their support of PHSC students through the Dr. Katherine M. Johnson Annual Scholarship. Established in 2016 in honor of PHSC President Emerita, Katherine M. Johnson, Ed. D., this annual scholarship has provided financial assistance to 18 students pursuing higher education at PHSC.
The Rotary Club of Brooksville presented a generous gift to the PHSC Foundation for the Dr. Richard Trump- Rotary Club of Brooksville Scholarship. This endowed fund was established in 1984 and, since its inception, has awarded scholarships to over 120 PHSC students.
PHSC Trustee and Florida College System Foundation Board Member John Mitten presents a check to Lisa Richardson, Ed. D., Vice President of Advancement, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, during the PHSC Foundation Board meeting in September.
The Rotary Club of New Port Richey provided a generous gift designated to the Dr. David Garner Shelton and Family Memorial Scholarship. This meaningful contribution honors Dr. Shelton’ s incredible legacy— ensuring his dedication to community and service continues to inspire and uplift future generations.
