Distinguished panel experts were joined by community members and PHSC staff.

The designation of January as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month highlights the importance of educating the public and

raising awareness about this critical issue. On January 16, PHSC hosted the Human Trafficking Emerging Trends Symposium at the Dade City campus, providing valuable insights to parents, families and the East Pasco community on the warning signs, risk factors and prevention strategies related to vulnerable youth. Lisa Richardson, Ed. D., Vice President of Advancement, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, coordinated the symposium, which featured a panel of renowned experts and advocates, including Corporal( Ret.) Alan Wilkett, Kelly Sinn, CEO of Sunrise of Pasco County, Inc. and Laura Henderson, Vice Chair of the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking. Don Germaise, a retired award-winning journalist, skillfully moderated the discussion. The symposium was a result of the successful collaboration between Pasco-Hernando State College, the Dade City Police Department, the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking and the Mel Greene Institute to Combat Human Trafficking, ultimately benefiting the East Pasco County community.
Concerned PHSC students attended the informative symposium.
