Foundation Board Member Supports Nursing Student Scholarships
P
asco-Hernando State College honored Dr. Bharat
and Mrs. Meena Desai of Family Medical Doctors
for their dedication to health care education. The
community philanthropists recently donated $50,000
to help meet the $1 Million Nursing Scholarship
Challenge. The funds increased the Dr. Bharat and
Meena Desai Endowed Scholarship, established in
2009 to assist Pasco County nursing students in
financial need. Their endowed PHSC scholarship has
assisted nine scholarship recipients to date.
In a December ceremony, the West Campus in New
Port Richey’s patient simulation lab was dedicated as
the Dr. Bharat Desai and Mrs. Meena Desai Patient
Simulation Lab. PHSC Foundation Board Chair,
Greg Lenners, spoke at the event, “I am honored to
represent the Board in recognizing my fellow director,
Dr. Desai and his wife Meena. Their dedication to the
College and supporting the future of health care in our
community is immeasurable.”
Influenced by the spirit of generosity from the Desai
dedication, Mrs. Pushpa Patel, mother of Mrs.
Meena Desai, presented the PHSC Foundation with
a $30,000 donation toward scholarships for students
with the greatest need. If you would like to give
and support student scholarships, please contact
