KUDOS Ahmy Arca, Coordinator, Student Life and Leadership and Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA) Region 2 Advisor, along with PHSC students Hunter Karius, North Campus, Hope Corcoran, Porter Campus, Kianna Rodriguez, North Campus, Dealaney Allen, West Campus, coordinated a FCSSGA regional conference held at the Porter Campus. More than 100 students from College of Central Florida, Hillsborough Community College, Polk State College, St. Pete College, and PHSC attended the event featuring college speakers and Peace Week events. KUDOS John Fey, Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development, was selected as vice president of commissions for the Association of Florida Colleges. He was also nominated for the 2019 Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate Award for the two-year college category sponsored by the University of South Carolina. Fey was also recognized as Rotarian of the Month in July 2019 from Seven Springs Rotary. Carolanne Azan, Assistant Professor, Baccalaureate Supervision and Management, was a nominee for the Nova Southeastern University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017 and 2018. Bob Bade, Ed.D., Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and Chris Bibbo, J.D., Associate Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Management, presented a workshop titled Enrollment, Retention and Completion: Cross-Departmental Collaboration at the Florida College Registrars and Admissions Officers fall meetings. Bibbo, will also serve on a Board of Governors and Florida College System workgroup that will discuss the implementation of the reverse transfer student graduation processes. John Fey VP of Commissions The Marketing and Communications team received two gold, one silver and one bronze award in the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations District 2 Medallion Award Competition. The team also won six awards in the Association of Florida Colleges Communications and Marketing Commission Awards of Excellence, including first place for magazine, a joint project with the PHSC Foundation; second place for radio ads, brochure, arts brochure and digital newsletter; and third place for a redesigned piece. Jaimie Pagels, Academic Advisor, was selected as the Association of Florida Colleges Region 4 Director. Bob Bade Chris Bibbo Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., President, was recognized by Florida A&M University as among 10 “Rattlers at the Helm” in the field of education. Michael Childs, Academic Success Center Coordinator, was awarded Level 1 Certification as part of the National College Learning Center Association’s Learning Center Leadership Certification Program. Gary Cors, J.D., Program Director/Professor, Paralegal Studies, received the Katherine M. Johnson Excellence in Teaching Award that encourages, recognizes and rewards excellence in teaching at PHSC. Pasco-Hernando State College was accepted into the first cohort of the Florida Pathways Institute (FPI), a statewide guided pathways implementation effort designed to scale pathways to dramatically boost completion and improve the social and economic mobility of graduates. The Florida Student Success Center leads Florida Pathways, which is modeled after the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Pathways Project. The PHSC Hernando County Take Stock in Children Program received a Gold rating for 2018-19, the highest evaluation the program offers. Imani Asukile, Director of Global and Multicultural Awareness and Special Assistant to the President, was also honored for his 10 years of service with the organization. Christine Smith, Associate Dean of E-Learning and Instructional Technology, was selected to present “Bloomin’ Summer: Digital Blooms in the Classroom” at the Florida Association of Educational Data Systems (FAEDS) in Orlando. Eddie Williams, Ed.D., Program Director/Assistant Professor, Human Services, was selected to present HS-BCP:101, focused on strategies to prepare for the HS-BCP examination, at the 2019 National Organization of Human Services (NOHS) Conference in Anaheim, CA.
