KUDOS KUDOS Ahmy Arca, Student Life and Leadership Coordinator at East Campus, was named Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Advisor of the Year in Region 2 for the second year in a row. Louise Downey, Academic Success Center Coordinator at North Campus, was named 2018-19 Mentor of the Year by PHSC Take Stock in Children (TSIC) for Hernando County. Downey was also considered for TSIC Statewide Mentor of the Year. This is her second year as a mentor. Downey meets with her mentee Mianicia Anderson approximately one hour per week during school hours at the mentee’s school. The faculty members were invited to attend NISOD’s International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, in Austin, Texas, in May. Pasco-Hernando State College was ranked first among Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs in Florida by NursingProcess.org. In Florida, there are more than 160 LPN programs that are approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. NursingProcess.org ranked the top 15 programs, with PHSC coming in first. PHSC was also ranked among the 2019 Best Online Community Colleges. The SR Education Group, a leading education research publisher founded in 2004, released the first-ever online community college rankings categorized by The Marketing and Communications team received seven awards in the Higher Ed Marketing 34th Annual Educational Advertising competition, including: gold for radio ad series; silver for TV ad series and TV ad single spot; bronze for the new logo and social media; and merit awards for outdoor advertising and the FUSE brochure. More than 2,200 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Jessica White, Student Life and Leadership Director, was the recipient of the Vee Severs-Choate Advisors’ Award from the Florida College System Student Government Association.
