ATHLETICS UPDATE ATHLETICS UPDATE Spring Ball in Burlington Basketball Wrap-up The women’s softball team clinched post-season play in the NJCAA DII District F Softball Tournament in Burlington, N.C. The team opened the tournament with a win, 6-2, defeating Surry Community College. In game two of the day, the Bobcats lost a hard fought 8-7 game against eventual tournament winner Pitt Community College. The loss put the Bobcats in the loser’s bracket and forced the team to play their third game of the day against Southeastern Community College. In the elimination game, PHSC fought hard before falling 10-8. PHSC finished the season 22-18. The men’s basketball team wrapped up the 2017-18 season with a 97-92 win over Ava Maria University JV on the Bobcat’s home court. “The team had a challenging season. I was encouraged by their hard work and dedication to improve their play,” said Micheal Jones, PHSC Men’s Basketball Head Coach. The team finished 6-15 on the season. The men’s baseball team clinched a spot in the NJCAA DII District Tournament by defeating ASA College of Miami two games to one in the NJCAA Region 8 DII best of three series. The team travelled to Burlington, N.C. mid-May finishing the district tournament 1-2, closing the season at 36-18. “I was really proud of our ball club this season,” said Steve Winterling, Men’s Baseball Head Coach and Athletic Director. “I couldn’t ask anything more of the effort they gave on the baseball field. We had a unique chemistry that put together a great season.” Theaplais Williams, freshman center, takes the shot during the game against Johnson University.
