FOUNDATION NEWS PARTNERSHIP IN Giving FACULTY, STAFF AND RETIREES THIS IS Why! T he annual PHSC Employee Giving Campaign kicked off this past fall incorporating the theme -This is Why! The College’s faculty and staff are the heart of the institution and investment toward students is immeasurable. This year, the campaign’s committee asked employees to reflect on Why they contribute. The overwhelming response-students! In addition to their time and talents, over 75 percent of employees made a personal financial contribution for this year’s campaign. These gifts directly support students through scholarships, program enrichment, facilities updates, or reinvestment of staff and professional development. Since 2009, PHSC FORMER EMPLOYEE Honored N orman Pingley, a former Hernando High School coach and teacher, joined the PHSC family in 1976 as an admissions specialist. During his nearly 30-year employment at PHSC, Pingley worked in the Admissions Department and taught in the Physical Education Department. He originated the Intramural Athletic Program and was the North Campus basketball coach. Pingley was the inaugural PHSC athletic director and coached the original girls’ softball team. employees have provided nearly $330,000 to the annual campaign. Thank you to all our dedicated faculty and staff. In honor of Norman’s 75 th birthday, his family has established the Coach Norm Pingley Scholarship. The fund will provide scholarships for PHSC students who are Hernando High School graduates and student athletes or enrolled in health programs.
