S PHSC FLAG FOOTBALL GRANT

When the National Junior College Athletic Association ( NJCAA ) made a $ 10,000 grant available to start a Flag Football program , Pasco-Hernando State College took advantage of the opportunity . The NJCAA cited PHSC ’ s strong application , past success and support of intercollegiate athletics as the reasons for awarding the grant . The funds received from the grant were utilized to pay the coaching supplement of Madison Burr , a former Pasco County football standout from Gulf High School who earned All-Conference , All-County and All-State honors as a junior and senior . PHSC already had flag football equipment from previous intramural activities , and PHSC ’ s Student Life & Leadership Department provided travel funds . Having secured additional funding for scholarships , the team recruited their first PHSC Women ’ s Flag Football player , Victoria Gray , and for the first year , the team recruited twelve women for the roster .
