At Pasco-Hernando State College , there is no higher priority than the safety and well-being of our students , faculty , and staff . Considering the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 , PHSC took significant steps to respond to our new reality and protect our campus communities , including transitioning to an online learning platform . With the help of donors like you , we were able to establish the Support our Students ( SOS ) Emergency Relief Fund to fulfill the immediate needs of our students . This fund helps provide relief for hardships , such as :
SOS Gift Cards
Food Insecurity Cards
Total Gift Cards
Total Funds for Gift Cards in 2020 - $ 65,000
• Housing and food insecurity
• Technology needs to access virtual learning
• Limited income
• Mental and emotional well-being
• Other unforeseen financial challenges
As time has passed , we acknowledge the pandemic has persisted , as has our students financial struggles . We are continuing to accept donations and allocate additional resources to the SOS Emergency Relief Fund . We have worked with community partners to ensure the free food pantries are full at each of our five campus locations and we have also started a Bobcat Fund to assist faculty and staff members in need .
“ There is no other word except Thank You ”
“ Thank you on behalf of me and any other student that ’ s going to be receiving this . Sincerely , thank you so much , ‘ cause this is , it ’ s a burden ... a small burden that ’ s able to be lifted off our back to where we can breathe for a week or two weeks or however long we can stretch this money , thank you .”
