Meet Marjorie Syphert , Resident of the Month
Marjorie (Margie) Syphert was born on July 25,
1941, in Huron, Mo., to parents Willard and Arleen
House. Both of her parents worked as custodians
for Warrensburg College. Margie has one brother,
Kenneth, and one sister, Mary Ellen. Margie grew
up in the Polk area and graduated from Bolivar
High School.
Margie met Vern Syphert while having dinner at
her friend Anna Marie’s house. Vern and Anna Ma-
rie were cousins. Margie and Vern married in 1964,
at their preacher’s house in Polk. The couple have
two children, Debbie and Mike, five grandchildren,
and three great-grandchildren.
Vern worked as a mechanic at Bill Roberts and
later drove a truck. Margie worked in housekeeping at Southwest Baptist Uni-
versity for approximately three years, and then at Citizens Memorial
Healthcare Facility for 20 years before retiring.
Throughout the years, Margie enjoyed spending time with her family and
taking long walks. She also enjoyed travelling. The couple often had fun travel-
ling to Branson, and also to California to visit family. Margie has also always
enjoyed being around animals, dogs and cats are her favorite.
While at Parkview, Margie enjoys watching “Little House on the Prairie,”
playing bingo, and going to the Beauty Shop. She also enjoys working on word
puzzles and having her friends and family visit.
