PRESCRIBED BURN JUSTIFICATION: Type of Burn: Ecological management Burn Unit Management Goals: Burn units 1 and 2 contain plantings that were completed as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (“WHIP). This program stipulates that these areas will be burned periodically to promote the native warm season grasses and forbs planted as part of the program and to reduce competition from woody and undesirable species. This is the fourth burn for this particular area under the WHIP program. Specific Burn Objectives: Restoration and promotion of native grass and wildflower species. Control of undesirable herbaceous and woody species Consumption of 80-90% of1-hour fuels. Training for Parks and Staff of partner agencies and organizations participating in the burn. 8.
