Attend an entertainment event
Further confirming the social nature of how people spend time in parks , almost 20 % of participants attended entertainment events .
Visit a playground
Almost 18 % of the survey participants visit a playground implying that a good many of the respondents are visiting the playground with their children , grandchildren or other related individuals . This is further confirmation of the use of parks as gathering places for social interaction especially for families .
Individual or team sports
16.43 % of respondents play golf and represented the largest single sport listed on the survey . 8.76 % participated in aquatics ( swimming or sprayground ) activities ; 6.57 % played tennis ; 4.93 % fished ; 4.05 % participated in intramural sports . There are leagues , lessons and other formal programs related to all of these sports and activities and it is likely that a different pool of survey respondents might have rated these sports much higher . In addition , we know that sports such as pickle ball , disc golf , skate boarding and others have seen an increase in the number of participants .
Educational events , volunteering 6.9 % volunteered in parks and 4.49 % participated in educational programs .
