Dr. Joel Kleven —
He’s Back in the Saddle Again

r. Joel Kleven was very young
when he had his first experience
with chiropractic medicine.
“I’ve been under chiropractic care
since I was 15 months old,” Dr.
Kleven said. “At that time I had lost
all function of my body below my
neck.”
Kleven’s parents had taken him
to a host of medical specialists, they
even took him to the Mayo Clinic.
Nothing helped. A doctor advised
the distraught parents to make
arrangements for their child’s funeral
because the toddler was wasting
away before their eyes.
As a last resort, the young parents
took their toddler to a chiropractor
that they had been seeing for injuries
they had sustained as a result of a car
accident they had been in.
After his first chiropractic adjust-
ment, the young mother tried nursing
him. It was the first time in weeks
that the child was able to keep any
nourishment on his stomach.
“That was the beginning of my
journey with chiropractic care,”
Kleven said. “I’ve been under the
care of a chiropractor ever since, not
for any particular injuries or pain, but
for general wellness and healthcare.”
“The way I looked at it was when
it came time for me to choose a
profession, I wanted to be in a posi-
tion to hopefully give someone else a
second chance at life that was given
to me,” Kleven said.
Kleven practiced chiropractic
medicine in Weatherford from 1983
to 2011. His practice thrived and he
amassed a loyal following of devoted
patients.
He also developed a passion
for culinary arts, enjoyed throwing
dinner parties, entertaining and even
started a catering business.
In 2012, he left his chiropractic
practice and opened a restaurant in
another city called 24 Plates.
Kleven has remained very active
in Parker County and spent time
working with charitable organiza-
tions. While Kleven enjoyed those
efforts and will continue to volunteer,
he could not ignore his true call-
ing any longer. Kleven has decided
to return to practicing chiropractic
medicine and has opened Dr. Kleven
Chiropractic & Spinal Decompression
at 925 Santa Fe Drive, Suite #111 in
Weatherford.
“I am thrilled to be back in prac-
tice full-time,” he said.
Understandably so. Dr. Kleven is
deeply rooted in Weatherford. He is
a 35-year member of the Weatherford
Noon Lions Club having served as
president, serving three terms. He
has served on many boards and
committees, including the Parker
County American Heart Association,
the United Way of Parker County,
Weatherford Chamber of Commerce,
WISD planning and development
and other local organizations. He is
currently a member of Parker County
Executives Association and looks
forward to being an active member
of the Weatherford and East Parker
County Chambers of Commerce.
Kleven, who holds advanced
certification in Spinal Trauma and
Kennedy Decompression Therapy,
provides personal one-on-one care
to each of his patients utilizing chiro-
practic adjustments, massage, and
trigger point therapy. If you have
been diagnosed with a bulging,
ruptured, or herniated spinal disc,
Kleven Chiropractic is equipped
with the latest technology in Spinal
Decompression utilizing the KDT
655 Neural-flex Decompression
table. A series of treatments using
Spinal Decompression can dramati-
cally reduce the extent of disc bulge
or herniation, reducing the pressure
within the disc leading to a signifi-
cant reduction, if not complete relief
of symptoms.
“I’m very excited to be working
with Mary again,” Dr. Kleven said.
The Mary he referred to is Mary
Myers.
“Mary was one of my previous chiro-
practic assistants,” Dr. Kleven said.
“Over the last few years she was busy
continuing her education and she
is now an Independent healthcare
provider. She is a Certified Intra-
Dermal Technician who also carries
certification in Reflexology and
Aromatherapy.”
Myers will be offering her
services within the office of Kleven
Chiropractic as well.
Kleven invites all his former,
as well as new patients to call and
schedule a complimentary consul-
tation to determine if chiropractic
services would be helpful to their
condition.
