2024 The Posse had a great 77th year in 2024, serving under the Sheriff of Parker County, Russ Authier. The officers were Captain, Larry Don Walden, Lieutenant, Jamie French, Treasurer, Wesley Jennings, Secretary, Paul Hardison, Corral Boss, Richard Dixon, and Wrangler, Ronnie Davis. The Rodeo Committee for the year consisted of Chairman, Thomas Saunders V, Roudy Turner and Doug Leeper. Board of Directors: Bill Riddle, Seth Denbow, Randy O’ Neal, Steven Finch, Mat Galliton and Robert Dyer. The role of Rodeo Sweetheart was filled very well by our sweetheart Aspen Dixon. Aspen did a great job. The Captain revived the list of Committees adding some to plan and continue the progress and success of the Posse. There was a committee for everything and everyone was on a committee. The work of members, on their committees, is what makes the Posse great, and although there isn’ t enough space for them here, their work is greatly appreciated. We kicked off the year with another fantastic Ranch Rodeo event under the direction of Ranch rodeo Committee chairman Blaine Peacock. From the Chuckwagon cooking to the Matched horse races, it goes in the books as one of the best ever. Many thanks for producing a great family event. First and foremost the Posse is a riding club, with the mission of preserving the western heritage of Parker County. To accomplish that mission we participate in riding events all over this part of Texas, and this year Cheyenne, Wyoming as well. Under the guidance and precise planning of Dr. Richard Dixon, we rode in the following events: Springtown Wild West parade, Cowboy Capitol Rodeo parade in Stephenville, Red Steagall parade, Fort Worth, Veterans Day parade, Weatherford, Parade of Lights Christmas parade, Weatherford, Fort Worth Stock Show parade, Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Grand Entry, San Angelo Rodeo parade, Palo Pinto Rodeo parade, Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo parade, Parker County’ s own Bringing In The Herd cattle drive, Parker County Frontier Days rodeo parade, Fandangle parade, Albany, Abilene Rodeo parade and Gillespie County Fair parade. Thank you Ric Dixon for a job well done. Improvements to our facility continued throughout the year. Thank you to all who pitched in to help working to make things better. Our Construction Committee, led by Shane Harris and Jamie French trudged forward with construction of the remaining half of the livestock pens. I am confident that they compare well with any others, anywhere in the rodeo world. Good job. Notable improvements were the addition of stadium style box seats, lighting at the entrance on 180 and the addition of the video board at the entrance. Thank you to all who contributed to the improvements.
The Posse lost 43 year member Joe Dean Johnson, and offered a tribute to him during the last night of our rodeo. New members joining during the year were Clayton Adair, Jimmy McDavid, Corey Prough, and Cory Ward. We received some recognition, from a few organizations, for our work this year, Texas Circuit Large Rodeo Committee of the year, WPRA“ Best Dirt” 3rd place nationally, and PRCA Medium Size Rodeo, Top 5 in the nation. Again, Great job PCSP. Parker County Sheriff’ s Posse was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. We appreciate the recognition for our efforts. We recognized our members for length of service this year as well. The work that they put in to the Posse is what enables us to do the things we do now. 50 years of service, Jerry Durant and Perry Mader; 40 years, Kirk Martin, Blaine Peacock and Monty Kemp. Thank you for your service to Parker County Sheriff’ s Posse. Lastly, I want to thank the Posse for allowing me the honor of serving as Captain. I am proud to serve and want to thank each and every member, sponsor and individual who support the work that we do.
