BRYAN
Noel Bryan, DVM, at the age of 97 passed from this life on November 5, 2025. He was less than 2 months away from his 98th birthday. He was born December 26, 1927 in Richmond, Texas, and was the youngest of nine children. While picking cotton on the family farm at the age of 9, Noel was inspired to become a Veterinarian by watching a young Vet named Dr. Ray J. Foshee treat their milk cow for milk fever. That experience gave Noel a passion for veterinary medicine that never left him. Upon graduation from high school in 1946, Noel enlisted in the United States Navy, knowing that he would be able to attend college on the G. I. Bill, after his service. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until 1953. Following his discharge from active duty, he enrolled in Texas A & M University, earning the Distinguished Student Award each semester.
A 1953 graduate of the Texas A & M School of Veterinary medicine, Dr. Bryan and his wife Jean moved to Weatherford in 1954, aware of the 169 Dairies located here. Each cow required regular testing for Bangs disease, making the young Vet a busy man. He built Weatherford Veterinary Clinic on Mineral Wells Highway in 1959 caring for large and small animals. For almost 70 years, Dr. Bryan served the agricultural community and animal lovers of Parker County. He was and is a Legend in Parker County. He finally retired his veterinary license at the age of 94.
Dr. Bryan joined the Posse in 1959 and in 1962 he served as Wrangler, he was Lieutenant in1964 and Captain in 1988. Under his direction as Captain, sponsorship signs were first added to the chute gates and fence inside the arena to help pay for the Rodeo.
Until Covid prevented his attendance, Doc Bryan could always be counted on to be seated at the back of the center table, west side, where he held court and told stories of the Posse’ s past and his adventures as a Veterinarian to us newcomers.
Dr. Bryan was recognized for 60 years of service in 2019; at his death he had served 66 years. The most of any Posse member in the history of our organization.
He will certainly be missed, but the memories of him will live forever. Dr. Noel A. Bryan, truly a treasure of the Parker County Sheriff’ s Posse and of Parker County.
Dr. Noel A.
