Cherishing Memories:
Photos
Photos are a wonderful way to capture a moment in time and with today’ s technology a camera is never too far away! We asked Kerrilee Beetham from Envisage Photography to give us a few photography tips to help you get the most out of your photos.
Photographing Young Children at Home
• Being in a bright room on the floor is a great spot to start photographing with no harsh light or shadows
• Get down on the floor at the same level as your child
• Brace your elbows on either the floor, your knees or a coffee table to stop camera movement, this creates sharper photographs
• Talk to your child instead of telling them to smile
• Playing Peek a boo with the camera as you are peeping over it to look at them and then back to the viewfinder, makes for a lot of giggles
• Capturing their eyes for close ups is the most important thing, they don’ t have to be looking at the camera but if the eyes are the focus it makes all the difference
• Photographing them when
14 they are in a happy playful mood.
