Question: Hi Becca, my name’s Jen and my son’s name is Jacob he is five, he heard a few swear words form some older kids at school, he has started saying them and I’m not sure how to get him to stop. I tell him he can’t say them and they’re bad but he doesn’t listen, what should I do?

Hi Jen, this is a very common problem mother’s have with kids starting to participate in activities or go to school they are hearing more people talk, which means more swear words and inappropriate language. The first thing I can say is the best way to get Jacob to stop, is to ignore it when he says those words. If he knows those words get a reaction out of you, good or bad, he will continue saying them for attention. If you show him you have no interest if he says them or not, he will most likely forget about those words all together. Good luck!
