Salisbury Schools Win State Grand Prize Award
Rowan-Salisbury Schools was awarded one of NC School Boards Association ’ s most prestigious annual awards during a luncheon at the group ’ s annual conference held in Greensboro in November .
The district received the grand prize for ‘ Excellence in Educational Programs ’ and was specifically recognized for its digital and instructional transformation .
“ Our emphasis on literacy , problem-based learning and technology is making a difference ,” said Superintendent Dr . Lynn Moody . “ This award is a testament to the fact that transformation is happening in our schools and the rest of the state is taking note .”
Dr . Moody and school board members Jean Kennedy , Dr . Richard Miller and Susan Cox were present to receive the award on behalf of the district .

Shive Elementary student wins Achieve3000 summer contest
Congratulations to Ezekiel “ Zeke ” Brown for being a Grand Prize Winner in the Achieve3000 Summer Contest . There were only six ( 6 ) grand-prize winners that were chosen from thousands of participating students across the nation ! Only students that completed the 40 activities with a minimum 75 % score qualified for this honored award . Zeke was recognized and honored at the October Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education meeting during the “ Celebration ” segment on the agenda . Vickie Smith & Jonathan Charney , from Achieve3000 , made this special presentation to Zeke .
