Requirements for High School Graduation
in Grade 6 math) placed on the advanced math track may submit a request form, on which they will also acknowledge the above requirements. Request forms will be mailed home prior to the beginning of the school year.
Promotion / Retention Policy( Grade 6-8)
Failure to successfully complete the school’ s coursework places the student at risk regarding continued enrollment. Excessive absences may also result in the need to repeat a grade.
Middle School Benchmark Projects
Each of the middle school years is accompanied by a benchmark project that emphasizes the continued development of writing skills in conjunction with the content area. Benchmark projects will typically be completed during the first three quarters of the school year. Students who have not met the necessary proficiency level( 80 % minimum) for the benchmark project will be required to continue to work on the project until proficiency is met. Credit for the benchmark course will not be awarded until proficiency on the benchmark has been demonstrated, which will be reflected on the student’ s report card. An incomplete will remain on the student’ s record until proficiency is met. When remediation is needed, it is expected to be completed before the last day of the school year.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Promotion / Retention Policy( Grades 9-12)
High school students earn credits for courses passed. These credits accumulate towards graduation requirements and thus produce grade placement. A student’ s grade classification at the beginning of each school year is determined by the number of high school credits he or she has previously earned. Grade 10 – 6.5 credits minimum Grade 11 – 13 credits minimum Grade 12 – 20 credits minimum
Requirements for High School Graduation
A student must earn a minimum of 27 credits to receive a high school diploma from The Cornerstone Christian School. The successful completion of each high school course earns credit as follows:
• Two-semester course( four or five days each week)- 1 credit
• Two-semester course( two or three days each week) – 0.5 credit High school courses are listed by department according to content. In addition to earning a minimum of 27 total credits, each student must also earn specific credits in each department. Homeschool students must attend CCS full-time for at least the junior and senior years to qualify for a Cornerstone diploma.
