Report Cards
Report cards for Kindergarten through Grade 12 are issued four times a year at nine-week intervals.( Pre-K report cards are issued three times a year, beginning in January.) Parent-teacher conferences are held at the end of the first and third quarters for all students, Pre-K through 12.
Online Grade Tracking( Grades 6-12)
Parents and students will be able to view up-to-date mid-quarter grades on Sycamore on the predetermined“ progress report” dates published on the school calendar. Parents will be notified by the administration if a student has been placed on the updated Academic Warning system. Varsity athletic probation will also be determined and communicated at this time.
Academic Alerts
Teachers of students in all grades will provide feedback about ongoing student progress. This may be in the form of paper grades sent home, personal communication from the teacher( via phone calls or emails), etc. Parents of students in all grades are also encouraged to reach out to teachers whenever they have concerns or questions about student progress.
Academic Warning( Grades 6-12) Halfway through and at the end of each quarter, the Secondary Level Principal will alert parents whose students’ grades have reached the level of“ Academic Warning.” The goal is to encourage parents to work with their students and the applicable teachers to help raise grades before the next grading period. Academic Warning status will be reached when a student has at least one grade below 70 at mid-quarter or the end of the quarter. There is no school-provided penalty for Academic Warning status except for those participating in a Varsity Sport. A varsity athlete who receives two or more grades below 70 or at least one grade below 65 will be placed on probation from his / her sport until the next grading period.
CCS Grading Scales
Cornerstone issues both academic and affective grades. Academic grades are used to summarize overall student achievement in each of the subjects. Affective grades summarize less-measurable aspects of the learning process, such as effort, behavior, and study skills.
