Educational Philosophy
There are instances, though infrequent, in which people are born with ambiguous genital formation or genetic conditions that impact the development of primary and secondary sexual characteristics. In these instances, wise biblical counsel and medical science can help inform the prayerful discernment about how to help families understand the implications and how to best support those with these medical / genetic conditions.
In addition to these important biological realities, we note the increasing complexity associated with gender identification. Although gendered roles, behaviors, and temperaments are the product of numerous influences( including biology, social norms and cultural construction), we believe that a person’ s birth sex is primary, formative, and God-given. We acknowledge that, as we serve God’ s mission through the ministries of the church, we will encounter those, who for various reasons, are struggling to embrace their createdness. In such circumstances, we are to engage with such persons graciously as we attempt to lead them into the fullness of life in Christ, to equip them to live as faithful stewards of the physical body they have been given and call them into lifelong holiness.( Matthew 19:4; 11-12)
Application of Cornerstone’ s Lifestyle Guidelines The school’ s teachings, policies, and practices align with the Lifestyle Guidelines and are evident throughout the school’ s curriculum and all programs.
The school expects all employees to live by the school’ s Lifestyle Guidelines. We ask for an understanding of the need for lifestyle standards, a good spirit in keeping them, and cooperative efforts in improving them. We ask all school employees to consider the larger picture that what we do and the manner in which we do it reflects on CCS and affects the life of our entire community. We encourage prayerful discernment in all decision-making, as our desire is to glorify God in all our efforts.
Educational Philosophy
The educational philosophy of The Cornerstone Christian School is based on a God-centered view of truth and mankind as presented in the Bible. Since God created and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him. This is pointedly true of mankind who was made in God’ s image, different in kind from all other creation, with the unique capacity to know and respond to God personally and voluntarily. Because each member of mankind is a sinner by nature and choice, however, s / he cannot, in this condition, know or honor God in his / her life. S / he can do this only by being born again through receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and thus be enabled to do God’ s will, which is the ultimate purpose in his / her life.
The entire process of education is seen as a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student into fellowship with God, to help him / her become strong or mighty in the Spirit, to assist him / her in developing a Christian mind, to enable him / her to think God’ s thoughts, to train him / her in Christlikeness and so that s / he can fulfill God’ s total purpose for his / her life personally and vocationally. S / he is taught the Bible so s / he may understand God as well as his / her own true nature and function as God’ s image. S / he is developed and related to God as a whole person, that is: spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. S / he is taught to see all truth as God’ s truth and to integrate it with, and interpret it by, God’ s Word. S / he is educated as an individual with his / her own unique
