• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the simple and complex concepts and competencies ; possesses the foundation to extend learning .
• The student requires little support to demonstrate her understanding ; she is encouraged to consolidate her learning and seek ways to extend it .
Extending ( EX ) 100
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the simple and complex concepts and competencies ; demonstrates extended learning .
• The student is able to demonstrate her understanding ; her learning is consolidated and she extends her learning in a number of ways .
• Crofton House School does not calculate GPA nor does the School rank students due to the small numbers in the graduating class and the exemplary academic performance of the majority of students .
Honour Roll
In Grades 8 to 11 , all subjects are counted towards the honour roll with weightings proportional to the time allotted to the course . For example , electives taken for one semester of the year are two credit courses , and full-year courses are four credit courses .
Grades 8 and 9
A First Class Honours Certificate is awarded to students who achieve an overall proficiency of proficient minus ( PR- ) across all subjects . This overall proficiency is to be calculated based on the weighting for each standard for each course as outlined in the course outline for the course .
A First Class Honours Certificate with Distinction is awarded to students who achieve an overall proficiency of proficient ( PR ) across all subjects . This overall proficiency is to be calculated based on the weighting for each standard for each course as outlined in the course outline for the course .
Grades 10 and 11
• A Honours Certificate is awarded to students whose overall weighted average is 80 % or above .
• A First Class Honours Certificate is awarded to students whose overall weighted average is 86 % or above .
• A First Class Honours Certificate with Distinction is awarded to students whose overall weighted average is 90 % or above .
Grade 12
• A Honours Certificate is awarded to students whose overall proficiency based on average in the courses listed below is developing ( DV ); 80 % or above .
• A First Class Honours Certificate is awarded to students whose overall proficiency based on an average in the courses listed below is proficient minus ( PR- ); 86 % or above .
• A First Class Honours Certificate with Distinction is awarded to students whose overall proficiency based on an average in the courses listed below is proficient ; 90 % or above .
Courses included in the calculation of Grade 12 Honours
• One English 12 course ( the best school mark of English Studies 12 , AP English Language & Composition ).
• Three school Grade 12 academic courses .
• One other school Grade 12 course which may be either a school Grade 12 elective or another Grade 12 school academic course .
