Late Start Wednesday ( LSW ) Schedule
During our weekly Late Start Wednesdays , teachers are involved in professional development and / or departmental meetings . Parents / guardians are encouraged to book student medical and dental appointments on Wednesday mornings in order to reduce class absences .

Advisory Program

Purpose of Advisory
Community , Relationships , Belonging and Skill Development
Advisory is a fundamental element of pastoral care in the Senior School and one which , in line with the School ’ s philosophy , places the whole girl and her well-being right at the centre of its programming . The fundamental purpose of advisory is to co-create a safe space with students , where they can develop positive connections to a trusted adult ( e . g ., the student ’ s advisor ) and to their peers , thereby fostering a sense of belonging , community and shared values . In addition , the CHS advisory programming is designed to explore strategies and skills needed for our students to thrive throughout their Senior School journey and into their future . Advisory provides opportunities to develop social and emotional learning , executive functioning and global competencies through responding to current affairs and a range of technology skills . Furthermore , students explore elements of the Ivy Compass Program within advisory , including the North Quadrant which focuses on students developing a strong sense of self .
Structure of Advisory
Within each grade , students are divided into nine advisory groups . The advisory group will remain together , typically with the same advisor , throughout their journey to matriculation . As a result , lasting , trusting relationships develop among students , as well as between students and their advisor .
The advisors offer first-line guidance and support for students . Each advisor becomes knowledgeable about their advisees ’ experiences and programming here and outside of Crofton House .
