• Prior to use , all students must have completed an orientation session and received instruction on facility equipment and its proper use
• All students will receive a Fitness Centre orientation as part of the Physical and Health Education ( PHE ) classes in Grades 8 to 10
• Students may also receive a personal orientation at lunch hour from a PHE / trained CHS staff member , as requested
• The rules are clearly posted
• The Fitness Centre is available for use :
• Before and After School : To all students WITH A BUDDY who have completed a fitness centre orientation . No adult supervision is provided .
• At Lunch : Open to all students who have completed an orientation . Staff supervision is provided by a PHE / trained CHS staff member .
• During Free / Spare Blocks : When the Centre is not being used by PHE classes , it is open to Grade 12 students WITH A BUDDY who have completed an orientation . No staff supervision is provided .
FITNESS CENTRE RULES 1 . Completion of the Fitness Centre orientation training is required before use outside of a PHE class .
2 . Students MUST have a CHS buddy present when making use of the Fitness Centre at times when supervision is not provided .
3 . Parent / guardian consent ( i . e ., a signed Acknowledgement of Risks and Informed Consent form ) is required in order for a student to use the Fitness Centre outside of a PHE class
4 . Students must follow the CHS Code of Conduct at all times within the Fitness Centre
5 . Students must sign in and sign out in the Fitness Centre log for each visit
6 . Use of the Fitness Centre is restricted to students and staff of Crofton House School ; no guests or non-CHS students are permitted to use the Fitness Centre
7 . Any Fitness Centre related injuries or facility / equipment irregularities must be reported immediately to a PHE staff member
8 . Proper , acceptable training attire and running shoes must be worn at all times
9 . Food and gum must remain outside of the Fitness Centre
10 . A towel and water bottle are recommended for each visit
When making use of the Fitness Centre and the equipment available , students and parents / guardians must be aware of the associated risks which extend beyond normal classroom activities .
