Athletics Mission Statement
It is the philosophy of Crofton House School that every girl be encouraged to be physically active . The athletics program is designed to engage the maximum number of students in as many areas as possible . In the Junior School , participation , fair play and skill development are emphasized . In the Senior School , there is an increased emphasis on competition . In addition , alternate athletic activities are offered that reflect student interest and encourage participation . Crofton House recognizes the important role that athletic involvement plays in fostering school spirit .
Athletics is an essential part of a balanced educational program . Student athletes are expected to make a commitment to their teams , while also maintaining course expectations in terms of effort and assessments . Further , athletes representing CHS must conduct themselves in a manner which is a credit to themselves , the coaches , the athletics department and CHS .
CHS is a member of the :
• Independent Schools Athletics Association ( ISAA )
• Lower Mainland Independent Secondary Schools Athletic Association ( LMISSAA )
• British Columbia School Sports ( BCSS )
• Rowing British Columbia ( RBC )
• Vancouver Sea To Sky ( VS2S )
CHS competes in all ISAA championships and in the Lower Mainland Independent Leagues to qualify for Vancouver Sea To Sky Zone and Provincial Championships . CHS upholds the BCSS constitution and complies with all bylaws .
Philosophy
CHS athletics offers students the opportunity to form positive relationships through sports , commit to a greater cause , and develop confidence , competency , and resilience while pursuing competitive excellence . Student-athletes will be able to push and express themselves in their chosen sport and acquire skills they can apply in their daily lives , ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life .
Goals
We aim to empower student-athletes to push themselves and develop transferable skills they can use daily . By striving for competitive excellence in their chosen sport ( s ), we aim to provide opportunities for students to enhance their confidence , competency , and overall learning .
Objectives :
• Achieve personal growth through challenging situations .
• Set and work towards individual and team goals collaboratively .
• Develop a lifelong interest in personal health & wellness through recreational or competitive activities .
• Participate in group activities to improve social skills and sportsmanship .
• Develop emotional self-control in stressful situations .
• Enhance physical fitness and skills .
• Foster school spirit and participation in school activities .
• Maintain academic expectations and conduct oneself in a manner that reflects well on CHS and the athletics department

Fitness Centre Access
At Crofton House School , we recognize and value the importance of active living and promote student participation in a variety of athletic endeavours . The Fitness Centre offers students an opportunity to maintain / improve their overall level of personal fitness and health .
