Stay in the Loop //  Lamplighters Yeshivah Parent Handbook Staying in Touch TELEPHONE (for same-day response) School directors and teachers are frequently in the classroom or outdoors and unavailable by phone during class time; however, you may leave a voicemail or a message with the office, and your call will be re- turned the same day. WHATSAPP, EMAIL OR PAPER NOTES (within 24 hours or after-hours) School directors and teachers can be contacted via whatsapp and email at any time of day; however, there may be times, due to their program responsibilities, when teachers may not be able to read or respond to these messages on the day they are sent, but you will receive a response within 24 hours. We encourage you to telephone and leave a message on the school main number for urgent matters. If you provide us with your email addresses on your en- rollment agreement, those addresses will be added to email distribution lists. We send periodic email to this list about administrative issues, as well as updates on day-to-day activities in each program from the teach- ers. Individualized Whatsapp Groups - We have created a Lamplighters Whatsapp Group for each student, which includes your child’s teachers, you, Morah Rivkah, and our behavioral scientist Reb Yitzchak Chakiris. Morah Rivkah and Reb Yitzchak will always be moderating the group, and will chime in when needed. This group will be used to share nachas moments, to track prog- ress, share educational milestones, and outline individ- ual behavior plans for your child. You can also use this group to communicate specific concerns and questions for your child’s teachers. Please note that teachers will not be checking these messages during the school day, if you need to get a message to to them throughout the 36 day, please call the office. Whatsapp Broadcast - Lamplighters office staff will use Whatsapp to send mass message blasts to the school community to communicate school-wide noti- fications, reminders and important announcements. When you reply to these messages, the reply is sent as a direct message back to the office, and cannot be seen by the rest of the group. Please make sure to add the number 929-276-8583 to your contacts to receive these messages. LAMPLIGHTERS FAMILY FACEBOOK GROUP Our closed Family Facebook page contains information about the school including news and upcoming events, daily activities and a gallery of pictures of the children. This is a great way for you to see both the what’s hap- pening daily in your child’s class, but also in the whole school. Our teachers often use this group to filll you in on the “back story” behind what they have been doing in the classrooms and you can use this information to initiate meaningful discussions with your children, that go beyond “how was your day?”. This a closed group for safety reasons, so that anyone who is not af- filiated with our school cannot view photos, videos and other items of interest. Make sure to request to be “a friend” and visit often! Invite your child’s grandparents to keep them in the Lamplighters Loop! (The group is open to parents, grandparents, other educators and key supporters of the school.) Here are some moments you should look out for on the Facebook group that will definitely make you go “aaaaw”: • Older children teaching younger children, and chil- dren teaching each other • Focused faces -- concentration! • Children keeping their workspaces super clean • A child sweeping (there’s just something about it) • An individualized lesson being given by a Morah-- how they connect in the lesson
