Stay in the Loop //  Lamplighters Yeshivah Parent Handbook 3. HELP WITH YOUR HOBBY! What is it? Handy? Love to get outdoors? Do you have a creative side? We’d love you to help with things like playground maintenance, gardening, furniture build- ing, graphic design, and the like! Please consider volunteering to be a class parent for your child’s class. This is something that does not re- quire a lot of time but is a great way to get involved and help enhance your child’s experience as well as that of everyone at the school. Here’s what that entails from you: Class parents will • Serve as a conduit between the PTO and that class. Class parents will funnel information/feedback from the parents to the PTO and from the PTOto the parents • Coordinate and/or advise parents on teacher ap- preciation gifts at 1/2 year (Chanukah) and at the end of the year (June) • At the start of the year, meet with the teacher to de- termine what help the teacher needs from the class parent body (i.e., volunteers, etc.) Bring the gift of reading to our students! Pick out books at the Brooklyn Library in the specific subject areas our children choose in class. Who knows? Maybe you’ll even want to arrange a Book Fair! • Keep aware of PTO and school events and actively promote parent participation and attendance • Serve as the link to the chesed committee - email the class if there is a life event (birth, etc.). Morahs to give this information to the class parent. 6. UNIQUELY YOU! • Organize (or host, for those brave enough) a class community building event such as parent get to- gethers, picnic in the park, impromptu play date for the class at a local playground, etc. 4. COFFEE & CUTTING! Help make curriculum items by cutting and laminating our works, while sipping on a cup o’ joe and schmooz- ing with other parents! This is a fun and unique oppor- tunity to get fam iliar with your child’s learning materi- als while providing a great service to the school. 5. BECOME A LIBRARY VOLUNTEER Here’s your chance to enrich our students’ experience by sharing with us your passion or hobby! An animal show for Parshas Noach? An in-class sing along? Or how about a recycling project? Flower arranging for Shavuos? Your imagination is the limit. 7. RUNNING ERRANDS Do you have a big car to help transport or pick up last minute things? Can you help with toiveling? Buiding furniture? Moving? You know, the necessary hands on deck... WE NEED YOU! 9. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Be a Lamplighters Groupie!
