FINALLY
Take time to speak to your child about events at school. Ask meaningful, open-ended questions
otherwise the answer will be ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – or ‘nothing.’(“What did you enjoy the most today?”,
“What new facts did you learn?”, “What was your biggest challenge today?”, “Who did you play
with at break?”, “What did you do in art, music, drama etc?”).
Please do not put undue pressure on your child to achieve in the classroom or on the sports field.
Be supportive and encouraging, but also be realistic.
Encourage your child to be independent and solve his own problems.
Do not drop your child off late for school unless there is an emergency.
Teachers in each grade work closely together. However, our teaching styles and approaches may
differ. Please don’t compare us.
Like everyone else, we do make mistakes from time to time. Please be understanding.
We hope this booklet has been useful and will prove to be a reference to you in the future. Should you
think of anything else you would have liked included, contact Melissa Prout at [email protected] and we will
include it in our next edition. Enjoy your time with us at primary school - we love every minute
ourselves!
