Please ensure that pupils arrive at school punctually, before 7:50. The first lesson starts at 7:55, latecomers miss out on valuable school time and also cause disruption for other children in the class. 2. A few parents have taken advantage of staff after evening functions by arriving long after ‘collect’ time. It is our policy to wait 15 minutes and then to deliver the children to the Pinelands Police Station. FETCHING AFTER SCHOOL Staff cannot be held responsible for the safety of the children after the end of the school day and we therefore request that children should be fetched within half an hour of their classes or extramurals ending. This means that Grade 1s and 2s cannot wait unattended until older siblings complete lessons – they need to be collected or spend the time in aftercare. During assessment weeks, we expect children to be picked up 15 minutes after school closes – If they are still hanging around the school after that, we round them up and put them into a classroom with a teacher so that they can still study for an hour after school. In the interests of your child’s safety, please ensure that your children know who will be collecting them and at what time – we often deal with children who need to phone parents at 5 o’clock at night because either their lift has left without them or simply hasn’t arrived. Please ensure that your child carries a R5,00 coin with them for the use of the telephone should these emergencies arise (it could be stickytaped into their homework book). Please do NOT hoot when fetching or dropping off children – it is extremely irritating (not to mention bad manners) for neighbours and all of us at school! RELEASING PUPILS EARLY FROM SCHOOL Should your child need to leave school before the end of the official school day, please adhere to the following procedure: • The parent/legal guardian must make the request in writing and indicate clearly the reason, as well as the name of the person who will be collecting your child. 24 Pinelands North Primary School
