This includes not only sharing “ best practices ” on business fundamentals but also addressing the challenges that we are facing post-Covid-19 . In my experience , I have noticed that lawyers do not to readily share information regarding their practices ( i . e . marketing strategies , rates , compensation levels , etc .). Presumably , this is based on a fear of competition ; however , I believe this is a detriment to all of us in the legal community . Once you have successfully defined your brand , your business ’ s focus should not be on competition but rather on how to market what sets you apart both professionally and personally . Some of the “ best practices ” discussed will be surrounding how to attract and retain valued employees in light of the ever-changing market conditions referenced above as well as understanding the motivations of the next generations of lawyers .

It is important to remember that we all make up our bar association . We are going to work on strengthening the SPBA through meaningful and targeted connections this year . We are hopeful that efforts in this category will not only provide benefits relating to professionalism and wellness but also remind members that they are a part of a very special legal community and bar association .
The objective is for every member that attends a SPBA event this year to take something from it ; whether that be a new business idea , marketing tactic , informational book , meaningful connection , referral , or new idea that can be tangibly applied to their business in order to make is more efficient and / or profitable . If successful , this will provide members with , what I consider my most precious commodity , more time .
