Kiwi born, Steve Clifton has been shooting since he was 8, an uncle introduce him to the sport through a local hunting club in New Zealand. It wasn't till 24 months later that Steve and his father travelled to the Auckland Archery Club to haver a look at some target shooting. The next 15 years, Steve says was spent shooting at the club weekend after weekend and every school holidays.
Steve begun shooting international competitions in 2001 when he attended the Junior Trans-Tasman shoot in Ballarat, Victoria. Enjoying shooting overseas so much, Steve has spent the last 13 years travelling all across the world shooting in many countries he may have never of had the opportunity to visit if not for his love of shooting. His busiest years shooting came between 2008 - 2010 attending many world Cups, Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
During this time Steve was fortunate to win more than a few important titles, including a Bronze Medal at the 2004 Junior World Champs in England, Gold Medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Archery Champs in India, Gold Medal at the 2006 Senior National Australian Champs and the most memorable, Bronze Medal at the 2009 Senior World Champs.
Steve is a talented shooter with multiple 1400’s and 700+ scores in the World Archery events.
Currently dialling back his international shooting to focus on completing university studies in Psychology, with the hope to end up with a career as a Clinical Psychologist and to work one on one with High Perfomance Athletes. Steve has begun shooting a lot more field and 3D, he will be competing in Australia several times this year in the 3D events.
Steve is still shooting with the Auckland Archery Club and also the Whitford Forest Archers for IFAA and 3D
Steves skills with the bow and arrow and also his infectious personaltiy have secured him some help form the a host of the best archery product manufactiers in the world including: Hoyt Archery, Easton Arrows, Doinker Stabilisers, Shibuya Sights, Carter Release Aids, Australia's Scout Bowstrings and Beiter Scopes and Nocks.
