In It For The MONEY
There is still a growing negative view towards caregivers. Once known as foster parents the title that reflected a parenting role has been replaced with a terminology that is very clinical in nature. It is no surprise also that historical claims of abuse are now being actioned against a number of past caregivers. Many of these will be hard for the caregiver to defend as little proof other than a he said she said kind of thing will be available. For those that did abuse it also seems that discipline that was acceptable at the time changed as views did. For those that did abuse the delay in seeing the cases now coming to court seems a strong reflection on a department that was in crisis many years ago yet still to this day fails to address many of the issues within it.
What is not seen or even talked about is the abuse that the parents themselves inflected on a number of these children who are now adults that was the cause for them going into care in the first place, are these now adults being supported to sue their parents?.
In fact what is becoming known are the number that are seeing it as a 'cash cow' not only for their children (now young adults) but for themselves if they had also been in care. Being able now to deflect their now adult children away from the role they themselves played in the first instance they far to easily feed the anger towards the department rather than allowing healing of the relationship to begin.
