Anderson County man takes love of fishing coastal with guide service

Anderson County native Steven Callaway spends his summers with the sharks along the coastline from Texas to Florida through his company Gulf Coast Yaker.
Gulf Coast Yaker is a land based surf guide service specializing in sharks and bull reds Callaway founded five years ago.
According to Callaway, a near drowning in his youth made him not enjoy the ocean and he didn’ t want to spend time at the beach before he met his wife, Shelby.
He said it was Shelby’ s love of visiting the sea that pushed him to pursue coastline fishing initially as a hobby. He said as a lifelong fishing enthusiast, he started surf fishing, then pursued kayak fishing and over time developed the skills and knowledge he needed to open his own fishing guide service.
Callaway said Gulf Coast Yaker offers a number of allinclusive family-friendly fishing packages, for people of all ages running from 1.5 hours to overnight, with fishing bundles that include an 8-10 foot raised platform, shark
