AROUND TOWN
In the first quarter of this year, Palestine celebrated the opening of CHRISTUS’ new Emergency Room and Micro-Hospital, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a parade and ceremony, Black History Month with a special gala hosted by Community Mpact and Mardi Gras with the annual Mystics of Time Krewe’ s parade. There were also lots of fun events and fundraisers including the Downtown Rotary Club’ s Cheers & Beers, Blankets & Bears’ annual Starry Night Gala and the Palestine Independent School District Education Foundation’ s Purses and Pearls. The community also enjoyed the 88th annual Dogwood Festival and late night visits to Whataburger to see Maesha and the overnight crew.
