“ Where’ s there’ s flowers, we take care,” she said.
It sounds simple, but the breadth and scope of the garden club projects are far reaching and have lasting impacts on communities across the state.
As the 47th Texas Garden Club President, Brown’ s theme is“ Spread Wildflower Seeds All Across Texas,” promoting the planting of bluebonnets and native wildflowers along Texas highways.
Brown said she has encouraged all of the Texas clubs to plant wildflowers in their community with her“ Best Wildflower Project.” The winning club in each garden club district will receive a prize of $ 200.
Brown said the Texas clubs are also participating in the National Garden Club initiative encouraging clubs to plant red, white and blue flowers at their Blue Star Memorials as part of the America 250 celebrations while honoring veterans.
Another project fostered by Brown was in response to the July 2025 flooding in the Texas Hill Country.
“ It’ s not just one thing we’ re doing,” she said.“ We’ re doing several, and those that donate get to tell us where they want the money to go.”
Brown said they had more than one club affected by the flooding last year.
She said the Hunt Garden Club, which they have helped, was working on a memorial garden to honor those that lost their lives.“ It’ s going to be awesome,” Brown said. Brown said the club in San Saba, 140 miles from Hunt, lost their clubhouse. She said they also helped their club monetarily.
She said they were also helping the Riverside Nature Center, a learning center, that was hit pretty bad.
Brown said they had East Texas students paint rocks for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade at Kerrville.
“ I’ ve got pictures of where the children were going through getting the rocks. It was awesome. And it was just a beautiful thing for children to be involved and for those kids to know that these kids care about them.”
Brown said most of the rock paintings ended up being religious.
“ Now, isn’ t that interesting? Because it’ s not a religious school. I thought,‘ How cool was that?’” she said.
