The first quarter of the year has been filled with lots of fun events in Palestine. The Palestine Farmers Market is always a highlight of the spring and summer months with people searching for fresh garden grown produce. Altrusa hosted its annual Chicken Spaghetti fundraiser and Rotary had a chili cook off competition. Mayor Mitchell Jordan, was sworn in for his third term. District 4 Councilman Kenneth Davidson was also sworn in for a new term. Local law enforcement honored their fallen with a special ceremony for Peace Officer Memorial Day. The Palestine Chamber of Commerce hosted a grand opening for the Tire Store Service Center in May. Rhone Funeral Home celebrated its therapy dog Barney’ s first birthday. There were multiple car shows and a cactus was found blooming at a local service station.
