Anderson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Rashad Mims, the senior county commissioner for the county, was honored by Palestine’ s Community Mpact with its“ Man of the Year” award during its second Celebration of Black History Month Gala in February.
“ Many of us know him as Commissioner Rashad Q. Mims, but I know him as“ little brother” or Quinn,” said Ernie Williams, Community Mpact founder and Mims’ friend.“ This man is focused. He is dedicated to God first, family second, and his constituents and community are third and fourth. I love him, and truly respect this man of character.”
Mims grew up in the city of Palestine and went to school at Palestine Independent School District where he said he was actively involved in football, basketball, track-and-field and school band. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1998.
Mims studied business at Lon Morris College on a Methodist scholarship and later studied criminal justice at Trinity Valley Community College.
