Remember growing up , wherever that was , and looking forward to graduating and getting out of the town where you were raised . Maybe it was a small town , and you wanted to experience the world . Or it was a big city , and a more slow-paced life was calling your name . Either way , it can be said that some people want to try life in a different place . But there are those people who , despite the fantasy of moving away , decide to plant their seeds where their family roots were grown . They choose to engage in the vitality of the place in which they were raised . Some even bring their own energy and enhance their communities with new , dynamic businesses . And Palestine is just like any other town in that sense ! Here in Palestine , there are several first-generation businesses , owned and operated , by people who were born and raised in the area and decided to stay and help their hometown thrive . One business that meets these criteria is BROtique . Jonathan and Amanda Conley , 2004 graduates of Cayuga High School put their heads together to fill a need that has long been missing in Palestine . A menswear boutique , specializing in stylish and affordable clothing options for men , boys and kids . BROtique officially opened their doors in 2022 and have been growing strong ever since . The boutique is a wonderful addition to the retail options in Palestine , offering stylish clothes and highquality products for work , weddings , prom rentals and everyday wear . Not only does Amanda run the day-to-day of the boutique , but she is also a hairstylist specializing in hair extensions for women with fine and thinning hair . Jonathan by day is an officer for Westwood ISD and by night serves as a merchant and model for the family business . When asked about their favorite part of owning a business , both Amanda and Jonathan explained how much they value the close connections and customer relationships they have been able to cultivate . The couple offers some sound advice to anyone considering opening a business , “ Our advice to current business owners and anyone planning to start a business would be to seek the Lord !
