Pale Fire: A Magazine in 12 Projects Group Three | Page 7

E D I T O R ’ S N O T E Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire is a book known for its many ways of being read and interpreted. Even when narrowing down to one possible inter- pretation, different students found different quotes and ways of sifting through the text. In this case, there were a lot of ways of comparing Pale Fire with Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens that were detailed in students’ papers, and surely even more than weren’t mentioned. For this reason, the contents of this magazine are bound to be eclectic, to say the least. What each one seems to agree upon, however, is that both stories have striking similarities to each other, and that Nabokov was certainly crea- tive in his story’s execution, as well as its parallels to Shakespeare’s work. We, the editors, urge the reader to enter the pages of this magazine with the knowledge that what you encounter has only scratched the surface of things. - C H R I S T I N A R E S O 7
