painting above: “Stickle Tarn” Oil on 300 gsm HP watercolour paper 250 mm x180mm (10 inches x 6 inches) Lucy’s work is usually in a smaller format around 400mm x 300mm. The artist utilises various mediums extremely well. Her choice of mediums are usually, oil on canvas board, watercolour on heavy weight paper and oil on canvas and her colour palette employs the classic colour tonal supporting contrasts (i.e. Lilac and Green). It will be interesting to see how her work develops and perhaps when she experiments with larger sizes, in which way greater abstraction, no doubt, will play a leading role in her existing obvious command of her stunning figurative landscape painting.
