The ICC is now spearheaded but Russel Jackson and it will again be held at Urban Assault Paintball Field in 2021 . Russel has always been one of the driving forces behind the event since the very beginning , but he always preferred to be in the background doing logistics and grinding while Tim was be the face of the organization . Russel knowing firsthand how demanding running this event is has reached out to his good friends Ryan Moorhead and Sam Monville to assist him in the organization of the event . I have to say that these guys make the perfect addition to the team . First and foremost , they bring marketing and graphic design to the table but not only that , these two are champion professional players . Both are members of the back to back NXL Champions team Houston Heat ! This is important because you need actual players at the helm of any event . They understand the challenges players will go through and work extremely hard to create an environment that will make players happy .
With Tim having been loved by so many however , many changes to the tournament have been suggested . The first suggestion was to rename the event after Tim in some way . This was discussed and it was decided that the name should remain the same . After all Tim named it . It has been decided though to rename the trophy . The trophy will now be known as the Tim Montressor Cup . Another big tribute is , to my knowledge , a first in paintball history . Funds have been raised and there will be a statue of Tim Montressor unveiled at the 2021 event . To my knowledge , there has never been a statue erected in honour of a paintball player . Please feel free to reach out to me here at Paintball Media if I am in error because I ’ d really like to know . There is also talk about several new individual awards that will be awarded to those individuals who have the greatest ( or worst !) accomplishments during the tournament .
At this time , the full details of the event are not solidified . That said though , I think that the future of the Iron City Classic is the very capable hands of Tim ’ s close friends Russel , Sam and Ryan . I look forward to seeing as many of you there as I can . I am going to make every effort to be there for 2021 . Please follow us here at Paintball Media for updates because I promise you , as I find out more , I will let you all know .
