What motivates you to dig deep into the history of literally every piece of paintball gear you can get your hands on ?

I ’ ve always been a collector , or a hoarder as my wife jokes ( fears !). Growing up I collected various junk , like comic books , trading cards , action figures and pretty much anything I could . I would research and try to ingest as much information as I could related to all aspects of each hobby . and was postmarked on the initial release date and in a specific location that relates to the stamps individual story . We loved these because they mixed a bit of history with art , and came in tons of different designs . Older and more obscure were always better .
Eventually I landed on philately , or the collecting of stamps , and more specifically , First Day Covers ( FDCs ). My dad used to work for the local post office and had always had the hobby to some degree so we set out to build a collection of bad as FDCs . I ’ m joking right ? Not in the least , FDCs are a serious game , maybe not anymore , but in the initial years of eBay , the FDC games was hard . For those who haven ’ t delved into the art of FDC collecting , a first day covers is an envelope that has been cacheted with artwork / a design relating to a stamp
We ’ d scourer eBay for hours trying to find the raddest and rarest FDCs . And this was a more serious hobby where we would research values in price guides , buy old magazines with specific articles , track values over time , pay attention to conditions , variations , postmarks etc . Our FDC game was on point . It wasn ’ t just the buying that made this game fun , it was the information , history , detail and the interest we shared together .
