As I was healing up he would come over and we would talk about the good times we had looking for gold . Not being able to run around the country or the world for that matter started feeling pretty good . I would get up in the morning and go out on my deck and enjoy my coffee . No stress at all .
After I started getting better my friend and I talked about going back to the hills to do some mining as I still had thousands of dollars worth of dredging and diving equipment just sitting there . All we needed was a place to go . Next thing I know we were in water dredging and having fun . Plus , this was only an hour and a half from my house . One thing led to another and the dredging equipment I had let sit for over 15 years was now replaced by my paintball equipment . I still had the construction company so between it and mining I let paintball take a rest . Now did I think it would take a rest for 18 years ? No .
So as time went by all I would do is read what I could find about what was going on in the sport and talk to my old paintball friends . I still talked to guys that still played but didn ’ t go out to play myself . I am grateful for Keith Kissel and Freddy Valenti for talking me back in to paintball .
When Keith asked me to do a 15-minute segment on the Freddy The Ref show I told him it had been so long no one would remember me let alone care . But Keith being a friend of mine and a teammate on Constant Pursuit I said I would . Well the rest is now history . That 15 minutes ended up going an hour and a half with people chiming in to talk to me . I had gotten the same bug to talk and play paintball as I did 35 years ago . What I will say is I ’ m back to promote the sport I loved for some many years and will until it ’ s time for me to check out . Reconnecting with old friends and making a bunch of new ones has been like a rebirth to me . When I tell people that I ’ m blessed I truly believe that .
