But I would trade all of the stability for the freedom of not having to punch a clock and the ability to do something that I absolutely love . I ’ ve dedicated my professional life to the game of paintball and the rewards have been immeasurable . I would do it all again tomorrow .
What are you willing to share about your family ? And how have they reacted to the role paintball plays in your life ? As an athlete ? And as a businessman ?
I ’ m an open book when it comes to family … or anything really . Brenda and I have been married for almost 28 years now . We have four boys that we didn ’ t birth , but they are ours . And they have given us six amazing grandchildren . The boys love paintball . They ’ ve played some tournament paintball as well as scenario games over the years . So paintball integrates well with them . In the mid-90s when I owned a paintball field we played together all the time . Brenda knows more about paintball than 99 % of the playing population . She ’ s been to hundreds of events and is a huge contributor to the magazine . She would tell you most of the good ideas that end up in the magazine are hers [ laughs ]. Seriously though , we ’ re really a team when it comes to Paintball . Media .
As an athlete …. A little-known fact about me is I was a really good basketball player when I was younger … for a 5-foot-9 guy [ laughs ]. When our boys Jamon , Curt , Kenneth and Terrill , were 11 or 12 years-old they would get so frustrated that they couldn ’ t beat me , ever . But by the age of 16 or 17 they were all really athletic and playing in high school and travel teams . Now , one of their boys , my grandson Xavier , is 6-foot-6 at age 16 and is one of the better basketball players you ’ ll find anywhere at that age .
