The Tampa-grown team, part of the growing Protocol system, was the clear favorite in this one, and they lived up to expectations, dropping the monkey 3-0.
Both fresh off of dominant wins, Protocol and Phoenix went into the finals riding high. But ultimately it was Protocol who got to hold up a pair of gold medals for their win at‘ Cup and in the D5 series. Space Monkeys would beat Socal Havoc for the bronze in the tournament and a silver overall.

Five-Man( non Xball)
This division saw perhaps the most international representation per capita for the World Cup. Six teams from Brazil entered into D3 5-man, the majority of which were from the Papeletto system, and representation from Columbia, Iraq, and Africa. Whether a referendum on the preferred formats around the globe, or just a mere coincidence, the results did tell an interesting story. The Ochos and the quarterfinals formed up with a third of the teams coming from abroad, and half of those made their way into the semifinals. There, NMI would defeat the American squad, Apex, for a finals berth, but a stripped-down Vikings Ragnarok( with several of the team’ s allstars who made a splash in the European series lending their support to the Papeletto Team on the Pro stage) fell to the well-established High Rollers team in a near 10-minute match.
NMI would then come back in the finals to issue a heartbreak to the High Rollers, and stroll to the top of the podium for World Cup gold. And Apex bounced back to win bronze with a run through Ragnarok, hitting them with a win-two punch in just over three minutes. www. paintball. media
