In addition to the woodsball fields at Urban Assault, the NPPL used two man-made dirt mounds fields for their Pittsburgh Open events. And interestingly, the National Survival Game( NSG), the first paintball tournament producers back in the early to late-1980s, held one of their events just a few miles down the road. Flash forward to 2017, almost 20 years since the last time the NPPL played the mounds fields at Urban Assault— Tim Montressor held his first Iron City Classic( ICC) event at the same location and with the same mounds / woodsball field concepts. The ICC became an instant success and was one of the key events that caused the resurgence of woodsball, classic tournament paintball that is growing still today.
