In 2004 our editorial team at Paintball
2Xtremes Magazine spent a year researching
the history of paintball for a full 160-page
History of Paintball magazine issue that would
be released in March of 2005. Dedicating a
full issue to the game’s history is something
I had wanted to do since the day I got into
the paintball magazine business in 1991. I
was fascinated with the game from the first
time I played in 1985 and I always wanted to

learn and know more—and this issue was an
opportunity to for me to put pen to paper
on a subject I knew and loved. But in that
year of research I learned a lot of the back
stories and the history even I didn’t know. I
also learned that my love for preserving the
true real history of the game would someday
go beyond a magazine issue and even the
depths of which we documented the game’s
history at that time.
