SABERWOLVES CLASSIC ROSTER Caleb Adcock, Jacob Adcock, Bill Aschbacher, Jason Baird, Aaron Boling, Jacob Byrd, Eric Evans, Jason Fajardo, Matt Hull, Woody Maddox, Ana Owen, Justin Owen, Jared Powell, Karl Poynter, Kyle Poynter, Aaron Rios The Saberwolves are made up of lifelong friends that grew up with and have known each other from their collective history in the Mid-South tournament scene from the 1990’s and early 2000’s. They also went on to play the NPPL, the IAO and other events during their first decade as a team. The Saberwolves are the only team to ever win the International Amateur Open (IAO) in the five-man and ten-man divisions in the same year. In 2016 the team reunited to play the ten-man Woodsball World Cup. Although there was no dedicated ten-man league at that time the team committed to stay together and compete together should any other similar events arise. The Saberwolves have won three ten-man classic events since—the TexMech classic event, Mid-Atlantic Classic and the NXL Mounds fields. In fact they have made the cut in every event they’ve entered. 098 paintball.media magazine The team’s success has led to their being invited to join the pro division of the International Classic Paintball League (ICPL). Team captain Justin Owen called it “and honor to accept the invitation.” The team’s roster is comprised of players spanning seven states (Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, and Louisiana) but that doesn’t keep them from interacting daily. It does however, prevent them from practicing regularly. Owen continued, “Because practicing is just a logistical impossibility, we recognize and accept that we’ll never be as good as we could otherwise be, but we’re okay with that. We feel we can still be competitive and win so long as we play our game. We work hard to be as good as we can be as individuals, and then rely on our unity and chemistry (of which we have oodles).”
