The SuperGame format takes place over three days and
has a variety of different offerings that appeal to nearly
every different niche. Friday kicked off the weekend with
the unique “Spoils of War” format. During this two hour
game each team attacked a base in an effort to raise their
flag in the center. For 30 seconds, once the flag had been
pulled, as many players as possible packed into the center
of the base. Once the time ended, the base was flagged
as neutral and unable to be fired upon while the referees
counted the players and awarded treasure (beads) to the
players inside. With several bases scattered around the
field, this led to some pretty exciting firefights and quite a
bit of back and forth. Players then turned their beads in for
points and additional raffle tickets. A severe thunderstorm
rolled in shortly after the Spoils of War game concluded,
forcing the event to move several planned activities to later
in the weekend.
With slightly better weather on Saturday, the Traditional
SuperGame began. Each hour the objective base rotated
according to a posted schedule. The final 10 to 15 minutes of
each hour saw a spike in the intensity of each engagement,
as each side struggled to pull the flag inside the targeted
fort to their faction’s color. The Red and Blue army battled it
out all day, with the White army coming to the aid of the Blue
army for much of the morning. With both factions managing
to capture three objectives each, the score was virtually tied
at the conclusion of that portion of the gameplay.
